OBSERVATIONS

Revealing the irony implicit in being in control of our own data while at the mercy of it, participants were able to join, contribute to, and be surrounded by a real time surveillance feed by scanning a projected QR code and using their own phones.

Active participation with little prompting [ only the displayed QR code ] questioned whether or not habitual engagement with media numbs the impulse or inclination to critically inquire into the nature of what you’re sharing and why.

Real time pseudo anonymization using face detection to blur faces questioned the conditionality of actions and of displayed identity. When publicized actions aren’t tied to identity, and repercussions don’t exist, how does this change the way people behave and present?
